Artist Profiles

We are currently featuring the work of three artists here at Green Dolphin Studio, and we will be featuring more artists in the near future. If you would like to become a part of our artist community, you can email us for details on how to submit your work for review.

 Michelle Church

Michelle is an accomplished artist, whose main focus of interest is contemporary impressionistic landscape work in pastels. She is a generous loving spirit and her home and her heart is always open to her friends and family. With four children, it's a wonder that she gets anything done, and yet her work has been displayed in numerous galleries (see list below) and is held in many private collections.

Her pastels have a soft breathy life to them. They are vibrant and soft, and at the same time convey life - the life in the land around us. Her landscapes radiate a feeling of comfort, and the impression of a softer gentler world just outside the window.

Michelle's love of the "earth mother" stems partly from her Blackfoot ancestry. Her stone watercolors come directly from an intuitive creative memory of native art-making practices. She lived for several years in Oklahoma, and these small watercolors reflect her love of the good red earth and the warm rich landscape of the Oklahoma hills.

She is currently working on several art projects and we look forward to exhibiting her newest work as it becomes available. She does do commissions and can be contacted here. An experienced framer, Michelle has managed and operated several frame shops here in Missouri, and also in Oklahoma. She is in charge of the custom framing offered at Green Dolphin Studio. Her knowledge and her experience are invaluable gifts and we are deeply appreciative of her skills and creativity.

Michelle's work has been exhibited at:

Union Hill Arts of Kansas City, MO

Dean-Lively Gallery Edmond, OK

Mudd St Cafe and Gallery Eureka Springs, AR

Crescent Moon Spa Crescent Hotel Eureka Springs, AR

Edmond Fine Art Festival Edmond, OK

Territory Beyond, Guthrie, OK

Works in Spirit Interior Artworks Fine Art Exhibit, Harrisonville, MO

Her work is held in private collections in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.

Her murals grace the homes of several families in Missouri and Oklahoma.

 Shirley Gibson

Shirley Gibson is an enigmatic spirit. Wise beyond this lifetime, she has created a method of art-working that combines organic flow with unknown results, consummating in phenomenal composition. This form of "go with the flow" media includes ink, leaves, plastic frogs, anything that her intuition tells her to use in the moment. Not knowing how any piece will turn out is an ultimate test in the face of her own talent, and she succeeds at this in an unequaled way. Subsequently adding her favorite quotes to her abstract work resulted in "way cool art cards", giving this unique media further opportunity to shine.

In addition to this, she has matured the art of crayon illustration showcasing the humor and irony in every day life situations. Almost everyone can relate to one or more of her "middle of the night art" pieces, and in compiling them she has cut a slice into human life that is too true to dispute. As the mother of two grown daughters and grandmother to three young grand daughters, she has paired the innocent playful creativity of childhood with the "dammed if you do damned if you don't" reality of adulthood through humor and clever illustration.

A testament to her inventive "out of the box" thinking, the way cool coloring book provides a creative challenge as well as a therapeutic outlet in allowing oneself to create without boundaries but still with the comfort of guidance.

In the 3rd dimension, she has transformed the torture we all inflict on ourselves into sculpture, bringing all of those bizarre thoughts and self sabotages into clear focus with her crucifixion pieces.

Raised as a child of missionaries in Ecuador and Colombia, her early influences were Christian laced with the stark environment of boarding school and the influence of the native poverty surrounding her family. As a child she shared adventures in this foreign land with her sister, pet monkeys, and her parents. Her dad was always ready with a camera taking slices of every day life, and in her gospel missionary card line she pays tribute to her incredible parents and their message, finding comfort in the ancient scripture of the bible and the sepia memories of her child hood.

To combine all of these art forms together seems impossible, however it only proves that as an artist and a soul, Shirley Gibson is unrivaled. True to her creativity, and accomplished as an unbelievable talent. it is the blessing and pleasure of her friends and her studio to have her acquaintance and participation as an every growing artistic flame. Shirley Gibson is a presence to watch unfold with amazing creativity and expression.

 Barbie

Barbie's artist profile, and a description of her work can be found here. We are very interested to see what she will come up with next. She is fearless in expressing her view of "self" and her work is definitely not for the faint of heart. Because her series is a work in progress, it has not yet been exhibited. It will certainly be interesting to watch her body of work unfold as she explores the rougher edges of herself through found objects, collage, poetry, and other media..
